🧡 Sweet Potato Biscuit Tradition

For 8 years now, I’ve brought my homemade sweet potato biscuits to my in-laws’ Thanksgiving dinner.
This year, with my wild retail advertising schedule (holiday season = chaos 😅), they didn’t ask me to bring them — and I totally understood.

But I made them anyway.

When I walked in, my 88-year-old father-in-law looked at me and asked:
“Did you bring the sweet potato biscuits?”

I told him yes… and his smile was EVERYTHING.
Traditions matter. Small joys matter. And this one belongs to us. 🧡✨

And because so many of you asked — here’s the recipe:

🥣 Sweet Potato Biscuits (My Family Recipe)

✨ Ingredients

Dry
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 Tbsp baking powder
• ½ tsp baking soda
• ½ tsp salt
• 1 Tbsp sugar (optional)

Wet
• 1 cup mashed organic sweet potatoes
• 4 Tbsp cold butter, cubed
• ½ cup buttermilk (add more as needed)

✨ Directions

1️⃣ Prepare the sweet potatoes
Boil or roast until tender. Mash and let cool.

2️⃣ Mix dry ingredients
Flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, sugar.

3️⃣ Cut in butter
Blend with pastry cutter (or fingers) until crumbly.

4️⃣ Add sweet potatoes
Stir into dry mixture.

5️⃣ Add buttermilk
Mix until a soft dough forms.

6️⃣ Roll + cut
Roll to ½–¾ inch thick. Cut with biscuit cutter.

7️⃣ Bake
Bake at 425°F for 12–15 minutes until lightly golden.

8️⃣ Serve warm + make someone smile.
(Preferably someone 88 and adorable.)

This is my great-grandmother’s recipe… the one passed down through generations of strong Southern women who cooked with heart, intuition, and zero measuring spoons. 😅

I made the crust from scratch, added a touch of Mexican vanilla, and brought one pie to my in-laws and two to my sister’s house. Because yes — we did TWO Thanksgivings this year. 😂🦃

There’s just something sacred about making a recipe that tastes like home, memory, and family all at once.
